Checking oil level Fiat 500.

To assure proper engine lubrication, the engine oil must be maintained at the correct level. Check the oil level at regular intervals, such as every fuel stop. The best time to check the engine oil level is about five minutes after a fully warmed engine is shut off. Do not check oil level before starting the engine after it has sat overnight. Checking engine oil level when the engine is cold will give you an incorrect reading. Checking the oil while the vehicle is on level ground, and about five minutes after a fully warmed engine is shut off, will improve the accuracy of the oil level readings. Maintain the oil level between the range markings on the dipstick. The safe range is indicated by a crosshatch zone. Adding 1 qt (1L) of oil when the reading is at the low end of the indicated range will result in the oil level at the full end of the indicator range.

Change engine oil Fiat 500.

The oil change indicator system will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. Refer to the “Maintenance Schedule” for further information.

Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or twelve months, whichever occurs first.

  1. Have Fiat 500 1.2 lounge and recently broken into and manuals etc stolen hence my question / oil level exactly mid way between min and max in dip stick so OK for long journeys ?
Also can I mix oils – believe existing is 5 – 40 or 10- 40 and semi synthetic – so can any good oil maker be comparable ? Fiat is a 58 plate so 6- 7 year old, great little car.
    Your input appreciated.

    1. Hello Gould, if the oil is betwwen min and max it is ok, can dou drive with no problem, recommended is to have on you a quart of oil to fill.
Do not mix viscosity, if you have in your motor 5w-40 you should add the same oil.

    1. Hello Alex, you have the answer in the article. If you car if your car does not match the data from there, please tell what type of engine do you have, the power of your motor and year when was made.

  2. Sorry I’m a girl. I just had an oil change on my Fiat 500 1.4l engine and I got it back and it’s in the middle of the crosshairs. I understand that’s the safe zone but after an oil change should it not be at the top of it?

  3. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU CAN USE PETRONAS SYNTIUM 5W-40 ACEA C3 FULLY SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL IN A FIAT 500 1.2 LOUNGE DUOLOGIC SEMI-AUTOMATIC ENGINE IS THIS CORRECT OR HAVE I GOT TO USE 5W-40 OIL ONLY
MY CAR IS A 2012 MODEL
